BPCA Junior Rep - 2016/17

18 Aug 2016 by Glen Potter

Hello, BPCA Juniors.

First of all, welcome back to all junior players and families for season 2016/17.

Junior Rep Cricket:
There is plenty happening in the Barwon region with junior rep cricket. Firstly, we will be continuing our six-team, three-match rep series, with games being held on October 16, 23 and November 6. To select these teams there going to be trials held on various dates, as seen below:

U18/17 ‘A’ – September 11, 7:30pm-9:00pm at Gravel Pits Road
U16/15 ‘A’ – August 30, 4:00pm-5:30pm at Gravel Pits Road
U14/13 ‘A’ – September 13, 4:00pm-5:30pm at Gravel Pits Road
U16/15 ‘B’ – October 2, (time and venue to be announced)
U14/13 ’B – October 2, (time and venue to be announced)
U12 – October 2, (time and venue to be announced)

A squad of eighteen U18/17, U16/15 & U14/13 players have all been notified and are attending trials in August and September (see dates and times above).

We require at least one member of each club to act as a selector at the October 2 trials. Please notify me if you would like to be involved.

Unlike previously, the October and November matches now form the basis of Barwon Rockets’ selection. The ‘A’ rep teams (Pirates) are selected by the Barwon Rockets coaches at BPCA-only trials. The Rockets coaches attend the rep matches and finalise the squad thereafter. The ‘B’ rep teams (the Buccaneers) and the U12s will be selected at trials on October 2 and will also compete in a 3-match round-robin series.

Meetings/Forums:
There are a few important meetings coming up in the next month and a half, so lock-in these dates:

1. Firstly, there is regional cricket forum to be presented by Cricket Victoria, on August 24 at the Fred Flanagan Room, Simonds Stadium, from 6:30pm-9:00pm (see attached). Anyone involved in any form or cricket in the Barwon region is welcome to attend.

2. The Geelong Junior Cricket Association are holding their first junior coordinator’s meeting on Monday, September 5 (time and venue to be announced).

3. Finally, we will be conducting a BPCA-only junior coordinator’s meeting on Monday, September 12 at Ocean Grove Cricket Club (new clubrooms at the new Shell Road Oval) from 7pm-8pm. At this meeting, we will discuss the junior rep program (matches and trials), Barwon Junior Country Week, U11 cricket and provide and opportunity for clubs to merge/finalise their junior teams where there is a shortage of players.

I look forward to catching up with you at any of these meetings. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Let’s all get behind the Bellarine junior rep teams this season and make it memorable.

Regards,

Glen Potter
